Woods on Fire

New gigs, album news

We’re happy to announce two new gigs, taking place later this month. We’ll be playing at our beloved dB’s in Utrecht again, on thursday the 25th as well as friday the 26th of April. On the 25th it’s the monthly Club 3voor12/Utrecht night, on the 26th it’s the Clash of the Titans semi-final.

Some album news as well. All recordings and overdubs are done. We’re preparing the mixes in Pro Tools and in May, we’ll be in Kytopia Studio 0 for a week, to transfer our mixes to 2″ tape and finalize the mixes in the analogue domain. Having tested this procedure with one track, we can assure you: our record is gonna sound pretty darned sweet.

New guitarist

We have a new guitarist, Vincent! He has replaced Rien, who mainly wanted to focus on his work and studies. We started recording our album with Rien and we’ve  finished it with Vincent, so both guitarists are on the album. Vincent has been in WoF for a little while now and we waited for us to adapt and rehearse with him to mention this “officially”. Now that has all happened so we can go off and conquer the world together. Or something.

Loads of thanks to Rien.

See you all soon. Did I mention we’ve finished recording?

Clashing on Valentine’s Day!

Last saturday we had a blast playing in Venlo. Many thanks to everybody who turned up to see us. And, of course, some special thanks go out to Tiger Woods Swing Club and Lost Bear, who graced the stage before us.

Our next stop will be in Utrecht again, where we’ll be playing in dB’s as part of the Clash of the Titans on February 14th. So if you want to treat your Valentine’s date to something special, come down to dB’s where we and 4 other bands from the local scene will make sweet, sweet love to your earholes for a lousy €3,-. Be on time though because, in keeping with the love-making analogy, it’ll be short and sweet.

Ring out the old, ring in the new. We’ve been very busy working on the band and album, and yes, it will be there somewhere in 2013. We’ve worked on many album tracks and created some new material which we’ll play for you live. Together with Perron55 and our friends Lost Bear we present to you: “That Expensive Sound”. Saturday the 26th of January, Perron55, Venlo. The damage will be € 5,- pre sale and € 7,50 at the door. Make sure you’re there, cause it’s gonna be special…

Recording diary day 13

This was our last recording day in Berlin. We recorded two more vocal takes, one through a guitar amp, some minor guitar recordings and some synth sounds. Tonight we will drink our beer with big smiles. Tomorrow we will pack our stuff and drive back to Utrecht.

Here is the songplan, it is done!

Friends Sam Jones, Colin and Erik Benders are in Berlin to have the second Kyteman record mastered. They visited us and filled our studio with their friendly presence. Again we gave a sneak preview of some songs.

These hands really helped us out in search of the sounds. Marco Paschke, the engineer of Andere Baustelle: danke schön! It was an extremely pleasant experience working with you!

We lived our lives behind this door for the last two weeks. We will close it behind us tomorrow.

This is our latest studio diary post, thank you for reading. We will keep you posted on the progress of the record!
